Why I Love
(Written by a ten year old in October of 2001)
I am Polish, Hungarian and Russian from my father. I am Slovak, German
and
French from my mother. My father is Jewish. He goes to a synagogue
to
practice his faith. My mother, sister and I go to a Siddha Yoga Ashram to
practice our faith. One of my friends goes to a church; another goes to a
mosque.
I have many friends that are black, many that are brown and many that are
white. Some friends are Korean; some Chinese; some are Japanese. I
also
have friends that are English, Greek, Spanish, Australian, Mexican, Saudi
Arabian, Israeli and Taiwanese.
All of these friends go to the same schools, cooperate on the same teams,
play on the same playgrounds and work together in the same classrooms.
One thing we all have in common is that we are free, free to be what we
want to be and free to be who we are.
I hope one day I'll be able to say all the things I said and you will wonder
what country I have just described. Today there is only one country where
all this can be true, the
